What are the clinic operating hours?
Each surgeon has their own operating hours. Generally the clinic is open Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).
Do I need a referral to make an appointment?
Yes. You will need a referral from your family doctor or another medical practitioner to make an appointment. Without a referral you will be unable to claim back from Medicare or your private health insurer. Also ensure your referral is current. Referrals are usually only valid for 3 months of 12 months depending on the referrer.
What do I need to bring with me to the appointment?
- Referral letter
- Any X-Rays / scans or test results
- Lists of medications with doses
- Details of any relevant previous surgeries
- List of any allergies
- Private insurance details (insurer name and membership number)
- Workers compensation details (insurer and claim number) if applicable
When will I be required to pay the fee for my consultation
Full payment is required at the time of the consultation. Please enquire with each doctor’s practice for methods of payment.
Are my medical records kept private and confidential?
Your medical file is handled with respect for your privacy and in accordance with the relevant Privacy Legislation.
What happens if I need surgery?
Each surgeon will discuss with you the risk and benefits of any surgical procedure. If you have any specific questions regarding your surgery, it is important you have these answered, well in advance of your surgery. Please contact the surgeon’s practice if you have any questions prior to your surgery.
If a Surgeon operates or consults at one of the Public Hospitals, can I make an appointment to see him there through the Clinic?
No. You will need to go through the appropriate avenues at that Public Hospital. You can not make an appointment to see the docotor publicly through his private rooms. You can only make an appointment to see him privately. If you want to make an appointment at the public hospital, please do not call the rooms as they will not be able to assist you.
